Omaha Beach SLSC encourages all its lifeguards to develop their skills and fitness through surf sports. These include surf and swimming skills, knee board, surf ski, beach sprints, beach flags, canoe paddling and IRB racing. The club offers regular training sessions throughout the year and equipment is provided by the club. Surf Sport is a large component of surf lifesaving and helps Omaha Beach SLSC retain quality lifeguards.
As a qualified surf lifeguard, you can participate in regular competition events against lifeguards from other surf life saving clubs at a regional and national level. Some of these are in the pool, most are at the beach, some are short distance and some are endurance.
Pre-requisites to participate in carnivals:
- You must have a current Surf Lifesaving Award and complete a refresher course when necessary
- You must be a current financial member of Omaha Beach SLSC
