GOOD ON THE ALL BLACKS
All the Omaha Beach lifeguards with Rhys Darby after the 2011 Baileys Auction night.
We’re on the cusp of another great season, with 5+ new guards qualifying early this year and more preparing for their Bronze Award. The lifeguard numbers have increased and the workload is being distributed more evenly over the season. Take a look in the photo gallery at some of our photos and videos from the past season.
Thanks to all the help from junior surf instructors, parents and the hard working committee to provide our second home at Omaha. And thanks to the life guards for giving their time to keep our beach safe.
The Club renovations have come to a holt for the time being, we need further funding to complete the interior. In the mean time keep checking back here for updates, events calendar notices and gearing up for registration in october.
Our Club
The club’s primary purpose is to prevent drowning and injury through lifeguard services and education. We are a dynamic, non profit organisation comprised of highly valued volunteers and supporters, who are passionate about water safety and the beach environment, and are keen to contribute their skills to the local community. Our dedicated members, with support from Surf Life Saving New Zealand provide a first rate service to the local community
Omaha Beach Surf Life Saving Club is a relatively new surf club first established in1988. We are located in Fraser Reserve on the picturesque Omaha Beach front, 45 minutes north of Auckland.
While a key part of the club’s role is to provide a dedicated lifeguard service, our members are involved in may facets of surf education including; the training and development of lifeguards, provision of a junior surf programme, maintenance of vital rescue equipment, hosting of surf sport events, as well as promoting beach education and support across arange of local community activities.
Key to the club’s ongoing success is our ability to provide a safe, welcoming and positive environment for members and supporters of all ages. A central part of this is to provide a functional club house facility. We know we do a great job on the beach, and we now strivingto improve our clubhouse facilities to better enhance the connectivity of our club and to support our growing membership.
The Omaha Beach community has grown significantly since the club was first established. This growth has resulted in a steady increase in the number of families joining the club and seeking to enjoy the experience of being part of the iconic NZ Surf Life Saving movement.
